Community Life
At Mrs. Bush's, we believe that aging is an opportunity for growth, enjoyment and development, not a period of decline. We're dedicated to meeting your every need and desire, which is why we offer a dynamic community life calendar that's tailored to your interests and preferences. Our programming is thoughtfully crafted to introduce you to new and exciting possibilities.
Our community life director leads the creation of the monthly activity calendar, which is tailored to seven distinct scopes of activity programming. These scopes include Cognitive, Community, Creative, Intergenerational, Physical, Social and Spiritual. Additionally, residents are invited to provide input to ensure that our programming is perfectly aligned with their interests and needs.
Our goal is to instill a sense of purpose, which is defined as "an intention to accomplish something that is both meaningful to you and important for the world beyond you." Research shows that having this sense of purpose benefits physical, mental, and emotional health. We offer programs such as Purls of Wisdom - Yarn Group, where residents create items to donate to community organizations, and our partnership with local schools allows residents to bridge the generation gap. We provide meaningful programs not only for our residents but also for our neighboring community.
Redefining Aging with a Dynamic Community Life Calendar
Engaging in cognitive stimulation activities is crucial for maintaining a healthy and active brain. These activities don't have to be difficult or overwhelming. At Mrs. Bush’s, we enjoy stimulating our minds through group competitive Scrabble, trivia events, travelogues, and our leisure education series.
Cognitive

Our home is not just a community in itself, but also a part of a broader community, the West End, and its surrounding area. Feeling connected to something larger is crucial. We engage both within our home and beyond, collaborating with external organizations such as local schools, food pantries, and others. Plus we enjoy exploring the community by shopping, attending shows and enjoying our local eateries.
Community

At Mrs. Bush’s, residents can explore their creativity through various activities like craft projects, paint and sips, music, dance, and more. Many residents who previously did not consider themselves creative now eagerly attend our art classes to see what they can create. Engaging in creative programs has numerous benefits for individuals of all ages, with seniors especially benefiting from improved physical and mental health, enhanced motor skills, and increased self-esteem.
Creative

The sounds and sights of children often evoke memories and joy. At Mrs. Bush's, our range of programs, from Easter Egg Hunts to Read To Me Programs and collaborations with local schools, involve children and families. Connecting different generations brings mutual benefits to all involved parties.
Intergenerational

Keeping our body moving is important for your health. It doesn’t mean you need to join the gym, but just moving your body by attending our seated stretching classes or participating in a game of cornhole can help you maintain independence.
Physical

From holiday parties to wine tastings, coffee gatherings, and everything in between, there are countless chances to socialize with friends.
Social

Spirituality plays a vital role in the lives of many individuals and can grow in importance as we get older. At Mrs. Bush’s, we embrace all faiths in our community for services, hymn sings, and Bible studies.
